These positions are Full-Time temporary positions not-to-exceed 1039 regular hours (about 6 months) in a service year. Positions may be terminated sooner or extended depending on management needs. Individuals selected under this vacancy announcement are eligible for rehire in subsequent service years.
The typical seasonal entry-on-duty period for George Washington Memorial Parkway is October - March, but can be variable during these months due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding. Anticipated Entry on Duty: December 1, 2017.

Responsibilities
Work as a team member on crews that perform pavement sealing, asphalt and concrete potholing, milling and paving.
Perform curb and gutter sweeping by hand and machine; clean road drains and culverts.
Operate line striping paint machinery on hard surfaces and trails. Mix appropriate paint for tasks.
Set up and remove lane and roadway closures along high speed roadways. Use signage and directional equipment according to MUTCD standards.
Create and install wood and metal road, parking, and trail signs.
Use hand tools and power tools and equipment safely.
Follow general oral and written instructions with little supervision.
Operate vehicles that may have a GVW of up to 32,000 pounds.
Operate tractors and heavy equipment or tow equipment.
Operate dump trucks with sanders, snow plows, and brining equipment for snow operations.
Travel Required
Occasional travel - Travel may be required to attend meetings and training or to work at other sites of the park.
Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication.
Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males.
Selectee will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program.
You will be required to submit to a drug test and receive a negative drug test result prior to appointment. In addition, this position is subject to random testing for illegal drug use.
You will be required to operate a government motor vehicle as part of your official duties; a valid driver's license is required. You will be required to submit a Motor Vehicle Operator's License and Driving Record. You must also submit (within a State sealed envelope or submitted directly by the State authorities), and at your own expense, all certified driving records from all States that disclose all valid driver's licenses, whether current or past, possessed by you.
You must possess and maintain a current Class B, (or higher) Commercial Driver's License .
You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards. A uniform allowance will be provided.
You may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and shift work.
If you are a new employee or supervisor in the Federal government, you will be required to complete a one-year probationary period.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors:
Ability to do the work of a Maintenance Worker (MVO), WG 4749 07, without more than normal supervision (SCREEN OUT)
Possess a valid Commercial Driver License Class B, or the equivalent from another state. I am able to maintain this license as a condition of employment.
