Summary

About the Agency

This position is located in the 6.2.1 Production Trades Division Competency, at Fleet Readiness Center Southwest (FRCSW), North Island, San Diego, CA. The selectee will perform Non-Destructive Testing and Inspection of aircraft structures, engines, components, egress systems, and aviation ground support equipment and all ferrous and non-ferrous materials and components by use of non-destructive test techniques such as liquid penetrant, magnetic particle and eddy current supporting an Integrated Product Team (IPT) product line within the FRCSW organization.

Selectee receives training and performs duties and tasks requiring more skills up to and including, under close direction, duties and tasks performed by the target level. The purpose of the training and tasks is to increase knowledge and develop skills for advancing to the target level job.

Duties

The successful selectee will perform the following duties:

- Test and Inspect components of aircraft and aviation ground support equipment
- Set up and operate a variety of NDT/NDI testing equipment
- Read and interpret technical manuals, drawings, and blueprints
- Organize and report on inspection and test results
- Perform user calibration tests on equipment to the standard as required and make necessary adjustments
- Use nondestructive techniques such as ultrasonic, liquid penetrant, magnetic particle, eddy current, and radiography to investigate the quality, integrity, and properties of products without damaging or impairing their serviceability

Requirements:

All qualifications requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement and clearly documented in your resume.

-You will be required to attain and maintain Level II certification in Magnetic Particle (MT) and Liquid Penetrant (PT) within one year.

-You will be required to attain and maintain Level I certification in Eddy Current (ET), Ultrasonic (UT) and Radiography (RT) within one year.

-Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

-Must be able to obtain an interim and/or final (e.g., confidential/secret/top secret, etc.) security clearance prior to entrance on duty AND must be able to maintain the required level of clearance while employed in the subject position. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

-Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the applicant fails to report to the scheduled drug test appointment. Incumbents of drug testing designated positions will be subject to random testing. Drug test results will be provided to the employing activity/command.

-Selectee will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
