About the Position:
This is a permanent position with Headquarters, US Army Corps of Engineers, Directorate of Civil Works, located at the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) Building; 441 G. Street NW, Washington, D.C. 20314.
Civil Works' Mission and Vision: Dedicated to providing quality, responsive service to the nation in peace and war. The Directorate of Civil Works is a major component of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The Civil Works programs include water resource development activities including flood risk management, navigation, recreation, and infrastructure and environmental stewardship. Our mission also includes emergency response.
Management may select at any of the grade levels announced. This recruitment provides promotion opportunity to the target grade of the position without further competition when selectee is eligible and recommended by management.

Duties


The incumbent will serve as a secretary and principal office assistant. The incumbent will receive office visitors and answer incoming telephone calls to eliminate interruption of chiefs and managers. The incumbent will determine the need for referral to the chief or refer to other personnel/offices for action. The incumbent will locate, assemble, summarize, and analyze a variety of subject materiel for use by chief and action officers. The incumbent will read incoming mail for information and to ascertain any required action, maintain record of pending actions, and follow up to keep abreast of status and ensure timely accomplishment. The incumbent will coordinate with the chief and action officers to determine date/time of travel, accomplishing all details of travel; arrange for accommodations, transportation to and from airport and pickup at destination for the chief. The incumbent will determine the need for establishing and maintaining a variety of subject matter files, regulatory and guidance material, and publications. The incumbent will act as the official timekeeper for the office and review materials prepared by various office and branch personnel. The incumbent will make minor corrections and call other discrepancies to the attention of the writer or typist. The incumbent will perform word processing, receipt/transmit electronic mail, and set up and maintain a variety of databases in support of various office functions.
