About the Position: This position is located in the Director for Nursing, Department of Nursing Administration, Nursing Business Operations. Nursing Administration office with most employees working in an environment of 3-4 cubicles per room. The room is well lighted with an ergonomic desk, chair, printer, computer and telephone. The applicant will provide administrative support for Nursing Contracts, FITREPS, and Travel. The applicant will also support 4 senior level administrators with various clerical/administrative duties.
As the Administrative Support Specialist, you will provide administrative support in the areas of budget preparation and execution, training, supply and equipment requirements, civilian personnel requirements and evaluations, workload data, and administrative reporting. Analyze data, identifies problems and recommends solutions. Summarizes data from Units and Departments to formulate annual budget estimates. Receives budget estimates and reviews for accuracy, completeness and assure amounts requested are within established guidelines, revising as necessary. Drafts procedural guidance for submission of annual estimates of funding needs. Coordinates with other Directorate personnel to ensure timely submission of budget estimates. Provides information on procedures, forms, and required document to support budget requests. Monitors and tracks civilian personnel actions for the Directorate and its Units/Departments. Monitors approved manpower authorizations and manning plans. Coordinates and monitors all civilian personnel evaluations to ensure timely submission and compliance with regulations and Directorate policy. Inputs personnel data into Defense Medical Human Resources System Internet (DMHRSi). Analyzes and verifies military and civilian travel (Defense Travel System (DTS) and training requests, reviewing for accuracy, completeness and reasonableness.

This position requires the incumbent to have tuberculosis testing.
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Experience required: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as performing duties such as: providing administrative support for budget formulation and estimates, travel, training, personnel (tracking and monitoring actions and evaluations), manpower authorizations, maintaining personnel data in automated systems, proficient in Microsoft Suite.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you may qualify if your education meets the definitions below:
Education Substitution for Specialized Experience for GS-09: Successful completion of a master's or equivalent graduate degree; or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; or LL.B. or J.D. from an accredited college or university. To qualify, education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work, such as a major in Business Administration, Public Administration or Health Administration. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
Combination of Experience and Education Substitution for Specialized Experience for GS-09: If you have some, but not all, of the experience or education described above, you may still qualify by combining the amount of creditable experience and education that you possess. To compute, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education in excess of 18 hours (total semesters hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts
