Summary

About the Position:
As a Test Administrator, you will administer tests in high schools and other educational institutions to individuals wishing to enter military service, using your own vehicle to transport test materials and maintaining security and inventory of the test materials. This may require early morning travel and extended periods of standing, walking, and sitting. Some work may need to be performed from your own residence prior to arriving at the test site. You must be able to carry 1 to 5 cases of test materials each weighing an average of 10 to 30 pounds to and from examination locations. You MUST reside within the local commuting area of your assigned duty location. You MUST be able to cover your assigned duty location and up to a 100 mile radius (200 miles round trip) of that location.
This position does NOT provide guaranteed work hours each week, and work will be assigned on an intermittent "as needed basis".
This position will NOT lead to a full-time position.

The United States Military Entrance Processing Command (US MEPCOM), Great Lakes (North Chicago), IL, is a joint service command under the direction of the Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Military Personnel Policy and is staffed by representatives of all branches of the Armed Forces. The command, through its 65 Military Entrance Processing Stations (MEPS), determines whether applicants are qualified for enlistment based on standards set by each of the services.

This is a Career Program (CP) 51 position.
This position has been designated as non-sensitive and is subject to a background investigation.
This position requires you to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
This position requires you to be able to lift boxes weighing up to 30 pounds.
This position requires 100% business travel within a 200 mile round trip radius of your residence. You will be reimbursed for mileage.
This position requires you to use your own reliable, privately-owned vehicle for travel to/from your duty locations.
This position is an intermittent position which requires you work on an intermittent or unscheduled, on-call basis. There is no prearranged tour of duty or guaranteed hours (i.e. not regular part-time, nor regular full-time. You will work fluctuating hours when needed as needed). Pay will depend on actual hours worked. Health and life insurance benefits are not available (except in certain situations); and annual and sick leave are not earned. Intermittent positions do not lead to part time or full time employment.
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or requirements described below. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Experience required: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
To qualify based on your experience, your resume must clearly describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. General experience is defined as: Progressively responsible clerical or office administration experience. Examples of qualifying general experience include but are not limited to: Conducting thorough checks to ensure forms are properly completed; Distributing and collecting materials while accurately accounting for those materials; Orally presenting basic instructions to individual and/or groups and ensuring their understanding of instructions; Utilizing automated systems to provide reports/information to others.
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you may qualify if your education meets the definitions below:
Education Substitution for General Experience for GS-04: You may substitute general experience with two (2) full academic years of undergraduate education above the high school level from an accredited college or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school. (Note: You must provide a copy of your transcripts in your application package.)
Combination of Experience and Education Substitution for General Experience for GS-04: If you have some, but not all, of the experience or education described above, you may still qualify by combining the amount of creditable experience and education that you possess. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of undergraduate education by 60; or your quarter hours of education by 90; or your business, secretarial or technical school total weeks by 72. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100% to qualify. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts)

In order to qualify for this position, based on your education, education substitution, or combination of education and experience, you must have either completed the education requirement, or will complete this requirement within one (1) month from the closing date of this announcement. If you will not complete this requirement within one (1) month from the closing date of this announcement, you will be rated as Ineligible for this position. You must provide appropriate documentation to reflect when you will meet the education requirement. Appropriate documentation includes: (1) Resume indicating your projected completion/graduation date; OR (2) Transcripts indicating your projected completion/graduation date; OR (3) A letter signed by the institution's registrar indicating your projected completion/graduation date.
Only degrees from an accredited college or university recognized by the Department of Education are acceptable to meet positive education requirements or to substitute education for experience.
