Duties
This position is for Recent Graduates and is located at the First Coast Guard District, Sector New York, New York, NY.
The position’s primary purpose is to provide developmental assignments in marine inspection that will ensure continued growth of personnel to the journeyman marine inspector qualification.

Typical work assignments will provide training in:

Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team.
Typical work assignments will provide training in:
- Conducting reviews of vessel's plans, safety management systems and operating systems for compliance with regulations and applicable standards.
- Examining vessel documents and ensuring vessels being inspected have the proper documents and certificates on board and in effect.
- Inspecting navigation, intra-vessel communication, alarm, lifesaving, fire fighting, and pollution prevention systems on a vessel.
- Identifying deficiencies when noted, evaluating the impact, and directing required changes, repairs, and appropriate corrective measures.

- Travel is required and while most travel is by commercial vehicle or aircraft the inspector must also possess a valid driver's license to drive various passenger vehicles to inspection and testing sites.
