Summary

About the Agency

The selectee for this position will serve as a Transportation Assistant (Shipment Management) in the Navy Household Goods (HHG), Personal Property Shipping Office (PPSO) of Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP), Global Logistics Support (GLS) Enterprise of NAVSUP FLEET LOGISTICS CENTER NORFOLK.

The President has ordered a government-wide hiring freeze subject to certain limited exceptions. This position is subject to the hiring freeze. Although we are moving forward with the consideration of candidates, we will not make a selection for this vacancy announcement unless and until the position is no longer subject to the hiring freeze.

Duties

The successful selectee will perform the following duties:

• You will arrange pickup and/or delivery of personal property shipments.
• You wll advise customers and clients on entitlements and/or procedures.
• You will prepare cost estimates to assist customer's in determining the best method of movement.
• You will establish and maintain records of all lots in storage, determine if lots exceed weight allowances, and arranges for the removal or relocation of items.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for this position, your resume must provide sufficient experience and/or education, knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are being considered. For GS-04 your resume must demonstrate at least one year of general experience at or equivalent to the GS-03 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Answering phone calls to provide requested travel information or direct the caller to another department 2). Assist with determining shipping method (e.g., bus, air express, truck, van) for a client. 3) Assist with secure carriers to arrange for pickup or delivery of freight shipments; -OR- Possess 2 years of education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university; -OR- A combination of specialized experience and education as described above.
