About the Position: The incumbent will perform a variety of manual labor tasks incident to trade or craft activities and in support of the operation and maintenance of grounds and facilities at a Field Office or District shop operation. This is a temporary position lasting not more than 6 months.

Duties
As a Laborer, WG-3502-03, your duties will include, but are not limited to the following:
Utilizing a variety of hand tools to spread gravel, dirt, or sand, digging holes for signs, fences, post, lanterns hangers, grills, cutting dead trees, cutting grass, and performing general clean-up of public areas.
Performing maintenance work in connection with dams and related facilities.
Lubricating and servicing bulldozers, tractors, road patrols, trucks, and mowing equipment.
Utilizing picks and jackhammers to break up existing concrete slabs and walkways.
Lifting and carrying heavy objects, transporting objects, and/or parts for short distances.
Unloading supplies and equipment from trucks.

Qualifications: For this position, the job element method is used to match what you can do against what the work calls for. SCREEN OUT ELEMENT: The ability to do the work of a Laborer WG-3502-03 without more than normal supervision. Work includes: loading and unloading trucks; moving office furniture, equipment, and supplies by hand or with various moving devices (e.g., dollies and/or hand trucks); mowing lawns and trimming shrubs; washing vehicles; and clearing and digging ditches.

PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work requires the exertion of very heavy physical effort frequently involving the lifting and moving of objects weighing over 50 pounds. Work requires considerable walking, bending and stooping, and some climbing for short distances.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Incumbent will work outside in all kinds of weather and is subject to discomforts from heat, cold, wind, rain, and dust. Incumbent may be assigned to work inside where conditions may subject the incumbent to high levels of noise, paint fumes, dust, and heat. The equipment, tools, and tasks involved at this level frequently require special care to avoid serious injury.
