Duties

In this position you will be working for the Laboratories and Scientific Services Directorate team performing the below typical work duties:

• Supporting the supervisor and/or higher-grade professionals in the performance of chemical and other tests as required;
• Assisting in the writing of papers and management briefs; and
• Cleaning preparing, and testing instrumentation under the supervision of higher graded professionals.

Qualifications

You qualify for the GS-4 if you possess one of the following:

• Completion of 2 full academic years of post-high school study; OR
• Completed requirements for an Associate's degree

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

You must meet all qualification requirements, including education, subject to verification at any stage of the application process by 05/19/2017.

Bargaining Unit: This position is covered under the bargaining unit.

Conversions: Interns may be non-competitively converted from the Internship program to a term or permanent position in the competitive service within 120 days following successful completion of all their educational and work experience requirements in accordance with section 5 CFR 362.204 and there is an available position; however, conversion is not mandatory or guaranteed.

Schedules: Positions will be filled on both part-time and full-time basis.

Trial Period: The entire period served under the Internship Program counts as the participants' trial period.

Drug Testing: You must complete a drug test as a condition of employment for this position. Once employed, you will be subject to random and unannounced drug testing.
