Description

Purpose of Position
Reporting to the Manager, Program Delivery and Services, and taking direction from the Assistant Manager, the Visitor Services Agent works in the Museum’s Main Box Office where they primarily field calls from visitors wanting to book group tours, and provide general information concerning services, programs, and exhibitions in the Museum.
Key Responsibilities
  • Greet public members appropriately by phone or email.
  • Provide general information concerning services, programs and exhibits; assist visitors with general inquiries (pricing, hours, events, etc.).
  • Provide recommendations and suggestions on group tours and use the Point of Sales (POS) system to log the booking.
  • Sell tickets and memberships over the phone.
  • Backfill for box office agents as needed.
  • Communicate directly with customers by email as required.
  • Contribute to Visitor Services team’s earned revenue objectives by successfully confirming tours and bookings.
  • Update spreadsheets and provides daily, weekly, monthly and yearly reports as needed.
  • Assist with administrative tasks for the Program Delivery and Services team as needed.
  • Support the Education Reservations Coordinator and Tour Sales Coordinator by maintaining adequate business continuity in the core functions of these roles, for example, answering inquires, fulfilling last minute bookings, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working in a customer service or call center environment
  • General phone skills and computer skills
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience cash handling experience including sales and cashing out
  • Demonstrated experience working as part of a team
  • The ability to communicate verbally and in writing in both official languages (English and French)
  • Knowledge and experience with Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Available to work shifts (weekdays, weekends, evenings and general holidays)
Desired Qualifications
  • Sales experience either in tourism or special event ticketing
  • Experience in upselling
  • Experience in the tourism/hospitality industry
  • The ability to communicate in additional languages
  • Proven track record of multi-tasking in a fast-paced work environment

  • Work is in a fast-paced environment
