Duties

Visitor service, revenue collection and daily cleaning/maintenance at campgrounds & day use areas to enhance the visitor’s experience. This includes but is not limited to greeting visitors and providing orientation, information and direction; confirming reservations; selling of campsites; daily cleaning of campground washroom and other facilities, day use area washrooms/pit privies, campsite cleaning/maintenance, grounds cleaning and litter picking and emptying of trash and recycling receptacles. Work locations could be Radium Hot Springs BC, Field BC, Lake Louise AB or 93 North Saskatchewan Crossing.

Intent of the process

This process may be used to create a list of qualified candidates to fill permanent or temporary vacancies that may arise at the GSMPS 04 & GSMPS 04 A1 (Lead Hand) group and level in the Lake Louise, Yoho & Kootenay Field Unit, in various locations, with full or part-time hours for various tenures, such as: Indeterminate, Term, Acting Assignment or Assignment at level, depending on status of the selected candidate.

Degree equivalency
Experience:
. Experience providing information and service to the public, including complaint resolution;
. Experience in point of sale equipment operation, cash handling, and balancing daily sales;
. Experience in basic computer applications including word processing, web and spreadsheet programs;
. Experience in cleaning washrooms and facilities in a commercial setting.
. For Lead Hand position only - Experience in providing leadership, either when supervising employees or through other means.

Operational Requirements:
The position requires the incumbent to:
• Make moderate physical effort to sit and stand for prolonged period and/or to clean facilities/grounds.
• Medium physical effort to lift 50 lbs maximum with frequent lifting/carrying up to 25 lbs.
• Be exposed to variable weather conditions.
• Be exposed to noxious odours from car fumes; to dust, cleaning products and wet conditions.
• Be exposed to minor injury when performing cleaning and maintenance activities.
• Work shifts, weekends, statutory holidays, and alone with little to no supervision.
• Occasionally demonstrate tasks to others.
• Wear a Parks Canada Uniform and abide by uniform policy.
• Be willing to perform duties in various locations.

Conditions of employment

. Obtain and maintain Reliability Status;
. Possession & maintenance of a valid Class 5 Driver's Licence (Class L, N or other graduated license will not be accepted) OR possession & maintenance of a valid Class 7 (Graduated Driver’s Licence) depending on operational requirements.
