Duties

Duties:
The Visitor Facilities Attendant performs a full range of janitorial assignments to maintain clean and safe buildings and grounds including:
Cleaning and maintaining visitor/public buildings/facilities;
Cleaning and maintaining diversified accomodations;
Conduct general cleaning around buildings, grounds, public-use areas such as visitor centres, campgrounds, beach areas and walkways;
Lock and unlock buildings and gates;
Observe appearance and condition of premises and equipment; report needed repairs, safety hazards, or conditions requiring servicing;
Maintain / restock inventory of cleaning and toiletry supplies;
Contribute to visitor experience by responding to general inquiries and direct visitors to sources of information and service areas.

Kouchibouguac National Park extends over 238-square-kilometres of Maritime Plain Natural Region along New Brunswick’s scenic Acadian Coast. This mosaic of salt marshes, peat bogs, freshwater systems, Acadian woodland and sandy beaches has long captivated guests, one generation to the next. Hundreds of species of birds, dozens of mammals as well as amphibians, reptiles, rare plants and a wide variety of sea life inhabit this park, and the landscape welcomes exploration via its network of gentle hiking and cycling trails. Degree equivalency
EXPERIENCE:
*Recent experience working in a variety of teams;
*Recent experience providing information to guests/visitors in a tourism, hospitality, or recreation sector;
Experience in providing cleaning services (in facilities such as commercial or institutional environment, other facilities may be considered).
*Please note : Recent experience is defined as experience acquired within the last 5 years.

ADDITIONAL ABILITIES: Able to understand and apply enforcement policies to detect violations of campground rules, and take appropriate action with visitors
Willingness to obtain and maintain valid First Aid and CPR certification (training provided);
Willingness to work irregular hours, overtime, evenings, weekends and/or statutory holidays and provincial/territorial holidays, when required;
Willingness to work and/or travel in varied terrain, weather conditions, isolated locations and by various means of transportation;
Willingness to wear a Parks Canada uniform and prescribed protective equipment;
Will be exposed to noxious odors from cleaning products, car fumes; to camp fire smoke, to dust and wet conditions;
Perform certain physical tasks as per job requirements (e.g. lifting up to 20 kg); Position requires moderate physical effort to sit and stand for prolonged periods and/or to clean facilities/grounds, bending, stretching, and working from ladders; lifting supplies, tools and equipment such as buckets; scrubbing and waxing floors; dusting and washing walls and windows; sweeping walkways and stairs; picking up litter and trash;
Occasionally demonstrate tasks to others;

Conditions of employment

Valid driver’s class 5 licence.
