Who can apply: Post-secondary students currently registered in a full-time college or university photography program who have completed a minimum of two years in that field of study by May 2018. Students must be returning to full-time studies in fall 2018.

Duties

As a dynamic member of the Interpretation team, working under the direction of the Interpretation Coordinator, the Student Photographer will be responsible for the following:

• Taking photos of interpretive activities and events for the purpose of publication and promotion of interpretation in Parks Canada, Banff Field Unit
• Maintaining an organized inventory of photos to be used by the Visitor Experience Department
• Recording videos of evening interpretive theatre programs
• Delivering interpretive activities and presentations to provide visitors of Banff National Park with opportunities to discover, appreciate, learn about and enjoy the place and its natural and cultural resources and understand their significance to Canada
• Engaging hundreds of visitors per day in interactive, interpretive programming at busy day- use areas
• Spending a significant amount of time per day driving a vehicle

Intent of the process

The results may be used in the future to fill other temporary student vacancies that may arise in the Banff Field Unit, in various locations, with full or part-time hours for various tenures, depending on status of the selected candidate.

• Experience in landscape, nature and portrait photography
• Experience in photo file storage
• Experience in public speaking
• Experience in working with the public
• Experience working on a team
