Intent of the process

The purpose of this process is to staff one indeterminate part time position (3 days a week) in the Heritage Information Directorate within the Canadian Conservation Institute.

A pool of fully qualified or partially qualified candidates will be established to staff similar or identical positions at the EC-01 group and level, with various tenures (indeterminate, specified period, acting, assignment, secondment, deployment), various bilingual imperative linguistic profiles (CBB/CBB, CBC/CBC, CCC/CCC), various security requirements (secret and reliability) within Canadian Heritage in the National Capital Region.

EDUCATION

Successful completion of two years in a post-secondary program in library/archival work.
Degree equivalency
EXPERIENCE

Experience in the creation of bibliographic metadata, including original cataloguing, editing of derived bibliographic records, and authority files maintenance

Experience in conducting searches using electronic and printed sources

Experience in providing interlibrary loan and circulation services

Experience in using an automated library system for acquisitions, circulation and searching

Information on language requirements
KNOWLEDGE

Knowledge of cataloguing and metadata standards

Knowledge of library and information science systems

Knowledge of procedures related to the acquisition, control, and use of library materials

Ability to manage and track library materials

Ability to communicate effectively in writing

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS

Experience in processing and claiming serials
Experience in processing and coordinating serials renewals as well as library invoice payments.
Experience in using Inmagic DB/TextWorks software.
Knowledge of publishing practices and information suppliers and sources.

Knowledge of the mandate and services of the Canadian Conservation Institute and the Department of Canadian Heritage.
