What can I expect to do in this role?

You will:
• provide end user support of information technology (IT) hardware and software for all SLPC operations
• provide support to systems users, such as technical assistance in the use of applications, diagnosing, and resolving user problems with software and hardware, acquisition of hardware and software, and conducting training in use of computers and applications
• assist in identifying major technical or operation service delivery activities
• plan project to enhance user productivity

How do I qualify?

Mandatory

• Valid Class “G” driver's license or equivalent to drive on Ontario highways.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

You have:
• Proven experience as computer/network technician or similar role obtained through experience and/or formal education or training related to the field of computer networks and technical support.
• Experience with LAN/WAN networks in a medium to large environment
• Thorough knowledge of computer systems, hardware, software and IT components.
• Working and troubleshooting knowledge of telecommunications systems, internet working protocols.
• Ability to provide advanced end user support, and assist with day-to-day IT support of desktop PCs, Windows 7, 10, MacOS, Microsoft Server Operating systems and Microsoft Productivity Suites.
• Good knowledge of internet security and data privacy principles.
• Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and applicable regulations to ensure compliance when performing responsibilities.
• Relevant certifications (e.g. CompTIA A+) or equivalent experience.

COMMUNICATION AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS

You have:
• Excellent written and oral communication skills to provide support to staff on effective use of information technology and to provide instruction and training.

ORGANIZING, REASONING AND ANALYTICAL SKILLS

You have:
• Proven ability to follow directions and multi task to provide support for customer facing services such as Wi-Fi access, payment terminal systems, POS as well as internal user support.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills to diagnose problems (i.e. hardware, software, network, etc.) and offer solutions.
• Exceptional organizing and time-management skills.

OTHER SKILLS

You have:
• The physical ability to safely perform the demands of the position including lifting and carrying such things as computers and related items.
