BAND 3 - Salary $72,000 - $100,000 annually

Salary will be commensurate with the successful candidate’s education, knowledge and experience, and in keeping with similar positions within the branch. Over time through performance based in-range movement employees will have the opportunity to reach the maximum of their position’s salary band.

This position is exculded from union membership. An eligibility list may be established to fill future full-time and temporary vacancies in this region, as well as other provincial regions.

The Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development is looking for a talented business professional to be the Regional Manager for the Lower Mainland/Fraser Valley Region,a region that spans the Sea to Sky area in the west, to the Fraser Valley in the east, with an emphasis on rural communities within the region.  Reporting to the South Coast Regional Director, the Regional Manager plays a key role in facilitating on-the-ground ministry and cross-government initiatives. You are a skilled communicator with a collaborative approach, able to work with communities to identify economic opportunities, support community and regional economic development initiatives, and assist communities to strengthen and diversify their economies. Priorities of this key role encompass identifying emerging economic issues, assessing the competitive market place and analyzing industry sector market trends in the region. You will lead the design, development, delivery, coordination and implementation of economic development initiatives in support of rural and regional economic development goals. An accomplished leader, you provide sound guidance and direction in a dynamic and challenging environment that balances ministry strategies with stakeholder interests in rural economic and community development.

This role demands a high degree of confidence, professional judgement and business acumen as well as the ability to use diplomacy, tact and influence in developing and maintaining critical strategic and operational relationships with First Nations, local government, colleagues, and industry leaders. Qualifications:
In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:
  • University Degree, Certificate, or College Diploma, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3  years' experience in leading/conducting setor and stakeholder consultation and leading multi-party discussions to resolve issues.
  • 3 years' experience building strategic partnerships and facilitating the development of collaborative relationships.
  • 3 years' Experience managing complex projects.
  • Preference for experience working in a local or regional setting.
