The Ministry of Children and Family Development provides programs and services to ensure that healthy children and responsible families are living in safe, caring and inclusive communities.

The Office Assistant provides general administrative, clerical and program support to the work unit.  Key responsibilities include receiving incoming calls, identifiying nature of calls, responding to general enquiries regarding the work unit and providing information such as brochures, packages, forms or applications, greeting, screening and directing clients to appropriate office and agency for service, establishing and maintaining positive client relations under possible adverse or emotional circumstances and searching management information system for client’s previous/current ministry involvement and updates electronic data base. The Office Assistant maintains client files through a records management process and accesses various programs to request documentation.

Qualifications:
In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:

  • Secondary school graduation or equivalent.

  • Minimum 1 year clerical, administrative support or secretarial office experience or a combination of experience, education and training.

  • Experience/training in keyboarding, MS Office Suite and other standard computer applications.

  • Keyboarding speed of 50 words per minute.

Preference may be given to applicants with experience in a human/social services environment.



A Criminal Record Check (CRC) will be required.
