Mental Health Support Worker Social Program Officer 21R Salary $27.84 - $37.89 hourly Position is .5 FTE (part-time) An opportunity to make a difference to the lives of BC’s youth Under the direct clinical supervision of a Mental Health Team Leader/Coordinator with CYMH clinical expertise, and as appropriate, the direction of a qualified CYMH clinician, participates in the delivery of a educative service to community agency staff and other service providers who provide services to children and youth with emotional and behavioural disturbances, including schools, foster homes, child protection, day-care facilities, infant development programs, family centres, probation offices, hospital staff and other health care workers which include participating in information/education sessions and workshops Assists clinicians to provide a range of mental health services to children/youth with emotional/behavioural disorders, their families and caregivers, such as providing counselling support and education to children/youth and their families; assisting families and other relevant caregivers of such children in methods of coping and management in relation to their child’s mental health condition, including parenting groups, stress management, problem solving, conflict resolution, effective communication, social skill enhancement, as well as working with other systems of care; assisting clinicians in carrying out, monitoring and evaluating treatment and or/care plans relative to counselling support and education; liaise with community professionals; maintaining appropriate clinical/client/administrative records, etc. For complete details on this opportunity, please review the attached job profile. In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below: - BSW, BA (Psychology), Bachelor's degree in child and youth care or a comparable degree or higher; and clinical experience working in child and youth mental health services in which you were responsible for providing community-based mental health services. - Recent experience (within the last 3 years) providing counselling and support to children and youth. - Basic understanding of child and youth psychological, social and cognitive development as well as the major behavioural, emotional and mental health issues faced by children and youth. NOTE: If your degree was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services (ICES).
