Summary
This position is a part of the Department of Defense (DoD) Office of the Inspector General (OIG), Deputy Inspector for Auditing, Defense Financial Auditing Service. As a Student Trainee (Financial Clerk) you will be responsible for: Assists audit teams that perform audits of the finance and accounting systems, functions, and activities established to carry out DoD fiscal responsibilities.

As a Student Trainee, GS -0599 -04, your typical work assignments many include the following under supervision: Works as a member of an audit team.
Completes routine audit tasks.
Performs fact gathering and collects data to meet requirement of defined task/audit steps.
Researches applicable laws, directives, regulations, manuals, and audit reports for data relevant to area being audited.
Prepares legible and accurate work papers.
Prepares and processes all necessary forms to meet administrative requirements.
Travel Required
Occasional travel - You may be expected to travel for this position.
Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service
Suitability for Federal employment, determined by background investigation
May be required to successfully complete a probationary period
Transcripts
Applicants must have completed at least two years of education above the high school level. The education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college, or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 0 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or at least 20 classroom hours per week for a minimum of 36 weeks.

Applicants must have earned at least 12 semester hours or 18 quarter hours in accounting, auditing, finance, or business law courses, and must be pursuing a degrees or certification in accounting or a related field, such as business administration, finance, or public administration. In addition, upon completion of the degree or certification currently being pursued, applicants must have earned 24 semester hours in accounting courses (6 of the semester hours may be in business law courses) to be considered for conversion.

Applicants must be currently enrolled or accepted for enrollment and seeking a degree, diploma, or certificate in a qualifying educational institution on a full or half-time basis, as defined by the educational institution.
Applicants currently enrolled in a qualifying educational institution must be in a good academic standing with a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.95.
Education
GS 4:
Completion of 2 academic years of post-high school study or associates degree and enrolled in a degree seeking program. An academic year of undergraduate education is defined as 60 semester hours, or 90 quarter hours in an accredited college or university.
