This is a key position within the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). ICE utilizes the government's second largest cadre of law enforcement officers to ensure our nation's economic, transportation and infrastructure security. ICE enforces immigration and customs laws. Intern NTE appointments are made on a temporary basis not to exceed 1 year from the time of the initial appointment to complete temporary projects perform labor-intensive tasks not requiring subject-matter expertise, or to fill traditional summer jobs. Appointments may be extended in 1 year increments up to the established caps. Intern NTEs may be converted to a term, career, or career-conditional appointment non-competitively if requirements are met.

As an Intern (Legal Assistant OA) assigned to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Office of the Principal Legal Advisor (OPLA), you will be responsible for performing a wide variety of support activities for a staff of attorneys involved in Immigration litigation and other law related activities. Specifically, you will:
- Perform a variety of complex support for a staff of attorneys involved in immigration law practices and court proceedings;
- Provide data gathering and analysis support for a variety of legal processes;
- Operate word-processing software and computer hardware to produce, store, and retrieve drafts of a variety of documentations types;
- Provide general support to attorneys in all areas of docket management or motion and appeal preparation; and
- Assist attorneys in preparing relevant documents for use in court proceedings.
