Summary
About the Position:This position is located in the Directorate of Risk Management at Sierra Army Depot. With the exception of Fire, Police & Security, employees work a 4/10 work week, Mon-Thurs, 0630-1700 hrs. Sierra Army Depot is located in the rural northeast California town of Herlong, approximately 60 miles north of Reno, NV; and 35 miles south of Susanville, CA. The depot serves as Army Expeditionary Logistical Support Center. The depot has an Army Command Officer with a predominately civilian work force of approximately 1350 employees. Child care facilities are available. Exchange/Commissary facilities are NOT available however there is a small AAFES Express. Carpools and mass transportation is available from Reno/Susanville at minimal cost. Surrounding area boasts world class fishing, hunting, snow skiing; full range of outdoor sports/recreation activities. Who May Apply: U.S. Citizens THIS IS A TERM POSITION NOT TO EXCEED ONE YEAR AND ONE DAY. THIS APPOINTMENT MAY BE EXTENDED IN INCREMENTS OF ONE YEAR AND ONE DAY TO A MAXIMUM OF FOUR YEARS. EXTENSIONS ARE NOT GUARANTEED AND ARE CONTINGENT UPON BUDGET AND WORKLOAD REQUIREMENTS.
You will screen numerous employees, visitors, and contractor personnel daily, requiring a great deal of patience, discretion, and diplomacy to determine status of an individual and reason for and location of visit. Denies access to unauthorized personnel or those who do not meet authorized entry criteria. Controls, prepares and issues identification badges, common access cards (CAC) and passes, which allow access of civilian, military, contractor personnel, and visitors to the depot. Exercises authority to authenticate depot badges. Sets up and maintains related visitor control roster and badges accountability log, which is subject to quarterly and annual reviews and inventories. Compiles and circulates lists of badges. Prepares badge destruction vouchers and signs as witness to the destruction of obsolete badges.

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience required: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience verifying security badges or documents for entering a facility AND maintaining records of visitors to a facility. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, abilities) in the following areas:
Knowledge of access control procedures
Ability to perform office functions
Ability to coordinate access control
Skill in office automation
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you may qualify if your education meets the definitions below:
Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.ORCombination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
Only degrees from an accredited college or university recognized by the Department of Education are acceptable to meet positive education requirements or to substitute education for experience.
