Building Services Worker - Smithsonian Institution - District of Columbia, DC
Summary
This position is located in the Office of Facilities Management and Reliability (OFMR), Smithsonian Facilities (SF), Smithsonian Institution (SI). The incumbent serves under the general supervision of the Building Services supervisors and performs a variety of duties in zone to support overall facility maintenance such as performing heavy manual tasks and maintaining facility cleanliness. He/she may be required to work late shifts, weekends and holidays and is subject to being called in for emergencies to restore the Smithsonian Institution to normal operations. Responsibilities
Performs a variety of building cleaning tasks using appropriate cleaning methods, chemical handling procedures, proper equipment operation, and maintenance.
Washes and replaces window blinds, ceiling fixtures, and room partitions using ladders and scaffolds.
Cleans and disinfects all washable surfaces in restrooms and custodial closets.
Maintains constant supply of paper products and soap in restrooms.
Removes stains from various walls and floor surfaces using chemicals and various cleaning solutions and equipment.

Physical Requirements: This position requires the physical ability to perform moderately heavy work including lifting and carrying heavy objects up to 50 lbs.; work outside in all weather conditions with exposure to dirt, dust, pollen and insects; climb ladders and stairs; and stand and walk for extended periods.
