About the Position:
Position is located in South El Monte, California with Operations and Maintenance Section/Maintenance Unit, Asset Management Division.

Duties
Operates diesel powered motor grader (e.g., 770, 12G, 12S models) with articulated frame, front end hydraulic pump, 12' angle blade, scarifier and scraper attachments and D4 caterpillar with 8' power angle dozer blade and power winch to do both rough and fine grading.
Drives 5 c.y. dump truck and trailer, 3/4 ton to 5 ton trucks between Maintenance Yard and work sites, at work sites, and for hauling materials as required.
Performs daily preventive maintenance servicing, inspecting, testing, adjusting, lubricating, and makes minor repairs when necessary.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Engineering Equipment Operator~ without more than normal supervision. You have the ability to perform the full range of operating three or more types of heavy engineering equipment (i.e., 75-tone hydraulic crane, 10-yard diesel dump truck, etc) to rough specifications with occasional supervision by instructions and periodic checks. I am skilled in operator maintenance to engineering equipment. I work on my own initiative under general supervision subject to occasional inspection - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

PHYSICAL EFFORT: Heavy physical effort is used to perform work, requires constant reaching, bending, turning, and moving hands, arms, feet, and legs to handle different sets of controls to operate equipment and attachments. Physical movements used to control equipment are rapid; exertion level is significantly higher than normal. Considerable strain is caused by the constant vibration of the equipment in addition to the
jerking and jolting caused by operating over rough surfaces. Works frequently in awkward or strained positions due to the location of some controls and attachments.
Work is performed in all types of weather, often in an open driver's seat or platform, on hills, slopes, grades, rolling surfaces, and forests. The operator is exposed to injury due to the possibility of the equipment overturning. He is subject to noise, vibration, dust, dirt, and fumes from the motor and exhaust, injury from heavy lifting, cuts and bruises, and usual traffic hazards.
