Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
Must be able to obtain an interim and/or final (e.g., confidential/secret/top secret, etc.) security clearance prior to entrance on duty AND must be able to maintain the required level of clearance while employed in the subject position. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
Selectee will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
Selectee must obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license.
Must be able to wear personal type safety equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
Must obtain and maintain CPR certification.
Call back after hours is required and emergency overtime are regular requirements of this position.
This position may require ability to obtain licenses for the operation of Fork Lift, High Lift(JLG) and/or Construction equipment, upon notification. Should wok be assigned that requires special certification or licensing to perform the work or to use specialized tools or equipment, the incumbent will be required to obtain such certification or licensing and maintain any associated qualification requirements. For example, the employee may be required to obtain a Class B, Bucket Truck License.
The work requires considerable standing, climbing, stooping, bending, stretching and working in cramped, awkward positions. Works from ladders, scaffolding and platforms where parts of the assigned work are in hard to reach places. Lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds. Occasionally may lift items weighing over 50 pounds with assistance.
Works both indoors and outdoors in all kinds of weather. Subject to falls, cuts, bruises, splinters, falling objects, injury from improper lifting, illness from exposure to weather. Shops may be noisy. If working on fire alarm systems, may be exposed to small amounts of radiation producing elements used in ionization smoke detectors, and mercury in pneumatic controls and checks.
