This position is located in the Colorado State Office of the wildlife Services (WS) program. The incumbent serves as a Program Support Assistant for the State Office as well as provides support to other members of the program. This position will also operate as a back-up to the Budget Analyst as required. This position is an essential component to the efficient operation of the Colorado program.
Salary Information: First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the lowest rate of the salary range for the grade selected.

Duties
The duties described are for the full-performance level. At developmental grade levels, assignments will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity.
The duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Maintains the Control Materials Inventory and Tracking System (CMITS) for the Colorado program. This system is used for tracking the use of pesticides, drugs, chemicals and other controlled materials used for field work. Assures that such items are properly stored in compliance with APHIS regulations.
- Serves as a liaison between WS and Colorado Department of Agriculture for permit and licensing purposes. Responsible for maintaining records and files relative to Colorado Department of Agriculture's permit to Control Depredating Coyotes and Red Fox from Aircraft, Limited Commercial/Public Applicator Certificate of Registration, Certificate of Pesticide Registration, Division of Wildlife's permit for the taking of depredating animals from motor vehicles and snowmobiles, CPW's Scientific Collection Permit, and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Special Purpose Depredation Permit. Assures that employee licenses' are not allowed to lapse before renewed. Tracks expiration dates on all other permits and renews permits as needed.
- Accountable for compliance to the APHIS Records Management Systems for the State and District Offices. Develops and maintains office filing systems, in accordance with Program policies, ensuring that current information is properly labeled and accessible while purging old files as required. Maintains and updates APHIS Directives, Policy Manuals, Administrative Bulletins, and NFC Manuals on a regular basis. Retrieves automated files, reports, and correspondence for use by staff members in responding to inquiries.
- Maintains control systems for miscellaneous payment documents, including VISA card transactions, SF1164's and travel documents. Reconciles VISA credit card transactions for all cardholders within the state. Collects all supporting documentation for charges (receipts, etc), reviews transactions for compliance with policy, and assigns budget object class codes and account numbers to transactions.
- Acts as official timekeeper; enters and transmits time and attendance to NFC for employees within the State. Reviews time and attendance reports for accuracy and compliance with tour of duty policy. Analyzes and resolves discrepancies on time and attendance records, working with NFC, Minneapolis Leave & Comp, and 'affected employees.
- Creates both technical and non-technical reports, letters, memoranda, and tabular material pertaining to the activities of the office, ensuring that all items meet the standards of protocol, format, and clarity and are in compliance with the latest policy and procedure guidelines. Incumbent writes routine non-technical correspondence for the State Director and/or Budget Analyst's signature.
- Answers and screens incoming calls in a polite, courteous manner, assisting with inquiries that do not require technical knowledge and directing other calls to appropriate individuals or agencies. Employee is primary contact and resource for field personnel. Employee also acts as liaison to Western Regional Staff, other State Office employees, and Headquarters.
