The mission of the Pentagon Force Protection Agency (PFPA) is to provide force protection, security, and law enforcement as required for the people, facilities, infrastructure, and other resources at the Pentagon Reservation and for Department of Defense (DoD) activities and DoD leased facilities not under the jurisdiction of a Military Department within the National Capital Region (NCR) (hereafter referred to as "the Pentagon Facilities"). This includes addressing the full spectrum of threats to the Pentagon Facilities by utilizing a balanced strategy of prevention, preparedness, detection, response, crisis management, and consequence management. PFPA is the DoD focal point for coordination with other DoD components, other executive departments, federal agencies, state, and local authorities on matters involving force protection, security, and law enforcement activities that impact the Pentagon Facilities.
Washington Headquarters Services was established as a Department of Defense Field Activity on October 1, 1977, as part of a DoD headquarters streamlining initiative. Approximately 1,200 civilian and military employees as well as contract staff are organized into 12 directorates and offices. WHS personnel contribute to the mission of our Defense customers by managing DoD-wide programs and operations for the Pentagon Reservation and DoD leased facilities in the National Capital Region. WHS is organizationally aligned under the Director of Administration for the Office of the Deputy Chief Management Officer.

Duties
As a Telecomm Equipment Operator, GS-0390-7, your typical work assignments may include the following under supervision:
- Managing requests for services and obtains and prepares the pertinent information for the allocation of public safety resources.
- Makes independent decisions, conveys information and processes referrals; works in cooperation with a Public Safety Telecommunicator II.Receives and monitors emergency and non-emergency requests by telephone or automatic alarms throughout the Pentagon Facilities.
- Coordinates with military and civilian agencies in response to mutual aid requests, in accordance with established protocols.
- mployee operates a variety of communications equipment including, but not limited to, Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), Enhanced-911 (E-911), Land Mobile Radio (LMR), Telecommunication Devices for the Deaf (TDD), and computers with general and specialized software common to the profession of public safety telecommunications.
- Screens incoming communications and prioritizes emergency/non-emergency calls and situations.
- Conducts operational checks of communications and telephone equipment, notes discrepancies in accordance with established procedures.
