The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to perform the Painter position without more than normal supervision performing duties such as: (1) Interpret instructions or specifications to assist journeymen in applying coating materials to surfaces by carrying out routine tasks of the trade; (2) Stir, thin, and mix coating materials following specific instructions; (3) Decide on standard methods and techniques to use to apply coating materials to surfaces; and (4) Clean and maintain tools and equipment such as paintbrushes, rollers, and spray guns.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

Requirements:

Must be able to obtain an interim and/or final (e.g., confidential/secret/top secret, etc.) security clearance prior to entrance on duty AND must be able to maintain the required level of clearance while employed in the subject position. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
Selectee will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
Selectee must obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license.
PHYSICAL EFFORT: The work may be performed from ladders, scaffolds, and platforms, and where the surfaces to be coated are in cramped and hard-to-reach places. The work requires standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in tiring and uncomfortable conditions. May lift, carry, and set-up materials and equipment that weigh up to 10 pounds. Occasionally, may handle materials and equipment that weigh 40 pounds or more. Employee may occasionally be assigned duties requiring entrance and work inside confined spaces. Training and certification will be provided.
WORKING CONDITIONS: The work is done inside and outside. Dirt, spray, and fumes are usually present. Incumbent may be required to prepare and coat surfaces outside in bad weather. Occasionally, may be required to wear protective equipment and clothing. May be exposed to the possibility of falls from scaffolding or ladders. May be required to climb and work at heights up to 100 feet.
Employee may be required to be certified in the use of a respirator.
Employee may be required to work shift work. Employee may be recalled to duty and /or required to work overtime on an emergency basis. Employee will be required to work other-than-normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.The employee may be required to report for duty or held in a duty status to provide support before, during and/or after special emergency situations, such as but not limited to, destructive weather (including snow removal), disasters, or periods of an increased security threat.
