Summary

About the Agency

The selectee will perform Non-Destructive Testing and Inspection of aircraft structures, engines, components, egress systems, and aviation ground support equipment supporting an Integrated Product Team (IPT) product line within the FRCSW organization. FRC Southwest provides comprehensive, quality support to our nation's aviation warfighters through the overhaul, repair, and modification of Navy and Marine Corps front line tactical, logistical, and rotary-wing aircraft and their components.

Duties

The successful selectee will perform the following duties:

*Perform a variety of Non-Destructive Testing processes.

*Test and Inspect components of aircraft and aviation ground support equipment.

*Set up and operate a variety of NDT testing equipment.

*Perform user calibration tests on equipment to the standard as required and make necessary adjustments.

*Use nondestructive techniques as ultrasonic, liquid penetrant, magnetic particle and eddy current to investigate the quality, integrity and property of products without damaging or impairing their serviceability.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: Performing NDT or NDI of ferrous and non-ferrous components in accordance with specifications and directives; locating, identifying, and measuring surface or sub-surface defects; testing both ferrous and non-ferrous materials; reporting inspection results; using a variety of NDT/NDI processes and related equipment; performing operator calibration on test equipment; complying with required safety regulations.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

Requirements:

All qualifications requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement and clearly documented in your resume.

Must possess a certificate of completion with a current level II certification in at least three of the following methods on aircraft and aircraft components : eddy current testing (ET), magnetic particle testing (MT), penetrant testing (PT), ultrasonic testing (UT), X-ray (RT) or temper etch (TE).

-Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

-Must be able to obtain an interim and/or final (e.g., confidential/secret/top secret, etc.) security clearance prior to entrance on duty AND must be able to maintain the required level of clearance while employed in the subject position. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

-Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the applicant fails to report to the scheduled drug test appointment. Incumbents of drug testing designated positions will be subject to random testing. Drug test results will be provided to the employing activity/command.

-Selectee will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
