Duties
DUTY LOCATION: ST ALBANS, NY 11425
The Laundry and Dry Clean Equipment Mechanic will be working at the VA St. Albans Healthcare System, in St. Albans, NY. This position is located in the Textile Care Facility Service.
Major duties and responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

The Laundry and Dry Clean Equipment Mechanic will be working at the VA St. Albans Healthcare System, in St. Albans, NY. This position is located in the Textile Care Facility Service.
Major duties and responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Makes all repairs to laundry equipment and any equipment related to the laundry (e.g. repairs/commercial laundry equipment such as washers, dryers, ironers, etc.).
- Maintains all laundry and laundry related equipment as per schedule set up by facility Standards and manufacturers' requirements.
- Fabricates parts, wherever possible, to maintain production.
- Uses of electric welding, oxy-actylene welding and burning and soldering; electrical, plumbing steam fitting, sheet metal and machinist duties using standard and specialized shop equipment to fabricate, weld or machine parts to make repairs.
- Performs certain plumbing duties including but not limited to maintenance/repair of solenoid valves, air/water/steam valves; replacement of copper tubing: replacement of air lines, dryer steam coils.
- Performs troubleshooting, repairs and/or replacement of motors, micro-switches, relays and control systems using a multimeter (ohm-voltmeters) and other tools as necessary.
