Duties
This position is located within Engineering Service at the VA New York Harbor Healthcare System in Brooklyn, NY. The Air Conditioning (AC) Equipment Mechanic operates and repairs equipment associated with the hospital's 3,700 ton Centralized Air Conditioning system. Such equipment will consist of pneumatic controls, valves, induction units, air handling units, heating, cooling, exhausting, humidification, and other affiliated equipment. Major duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm.
Recruitment & Relocation Incentives: Not authorized
- Approaches defective equipment, trouble shoots problem, and makes necessary repairs;
- Performs repairs consisting of replacing defective components such as thermostatic expansion valve capillary tubes, high and low pressure controls, pressure regulating valves, solenoid valves, relays, pneumatic valves and controls, compressor parts, evaporators, and other components affiliated with air conditioning and refrigeration equipment;
- Performs maintenance consisting of scheduled lubrication and cleaning, replacing filters, daily inspections, and detecting and elimination of potential break downs;
- Installs, maintains, and repairs refrigeration equipment such as walk-in, reach-in, and domestic refrigerators, ice machines, water towers, freezers, refrigerated medical equipment, water coolers, air conditioners, and other refrigeration equipment; and,
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm.
