About the Agency

The Special Inspector General for the Troubled Asset Relief Fund has the authority to appoint highly qualified re-employed annuitants with a salary offset (reduction) waiver. Appointments may be permanent or temporary, not to exceed one year, which may be extended yearly. All re-employed annuitants serve at the will of the agency head and appointments do not confer tenure.

The Office of the Special Inspector General for the Troubled Asset Relief Program (SIGTARP) was established at the Department of the Treasury under the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008. The mission of SIGTARP is to conduct, supervise, and coordinate audits and investigations of the purchase, management, and sale of assets by the Secretary under the TARP. We are looking for people to join our team as we take on our responsibility to oversee this historic program and its participants.

The position is located in the Special Inspector General for the Troubled Asset Relief Program (SIGTARP). SIGTARP is a federal law enforcement agency that targets financial institution crime and is an independent watchdog protecting taxpayer dollars.

Duties

As a Student Trainee (Office Automation) , you will:

-Provide clerical support to the organization such as maintaining files, consolidate information, preparing letters and memos, and making copies. Use automation software to produce a variety of documents and reports.

-Manipulate and retrieve personnel data from various personnel databases for reports or other uses.

-Utilize personal computer, local area network, timekeeping software, and email system to accomplish assignments.

-Answer telephone and assist at reception desk responding to visitors and callers.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

You must be able to type 40 words per minute or be a certified typist.

To qualify for the grade 04 level, you must meet the following requirements:

A. Education: You must have completed 2 full academic years of post-high school study or associate's degree OR

B. Experience: You must have at least one year of general experience which is progressively responsible clerical, office work OR

C. You may qualify with a combination of qualifying education and experience.

All applicants are REQUIRED to submit all undergraduate and graduate college transcripts, including transcripts from transfer schools no later than the date indicated in the announcement. Transcripts may be unofficial at the time of application, but an official transcript is required if a job offer is extended.

NOTE: You must maintain student eligibility and enrollment for the duration of the internship. If you cannot, you are ineligible for this program.

1) You MUST meet the definition of a STUDENT for the duration of your appointment as follows: The definition of a student is: an individual accepted for enrollment or enrolled and seeking a degree (diploma, certificate, etc.) in a qualifying educational institution, on a full or half-time basis (as defined by the institution in which the student is enrolled), including awardees of the Harry S. Truman Foundation Scholarship Program under Public Law 93–842. Students need not be in actual physical attendance, so long as all other requirements are met. An individual who needs to complete less than the equivalent of half an academic/vocational or technical course-load immediately prior to graduating is still considered a student for purposes of this Program.

Transcripts must be submitted with your application. Unofficial transcripts are acceptable with your application. However, if selected for the position, you will be required to submit your official transcript. Please note your unofficial transcripts must be recent (within last six months), show your cumulative GPA, and indicate the courses in which you are currently enrolled.

The experience may have been gained in either the public or private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. To ensure full credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/day/year, and indicate number of hours worked per week on your résumé.
