About the Position:
This announcement is being used to fill a Cash Clerk position at the GS-03 level in the Nutrition Care Division at Evans Army Community Hospital (EACH) on Fort Carson. Fort Carson is located near Colorado Springs, CO and provides health care services to a large population of active duty military and their families. EACH and Fort Carson are only minutes or hours away from tourist attractions, such as Garden of the Gods, Cave of the Winds, and Pike's Peak, and from popular tourist activities, including hiking, skiing, and white-water rafting. Duties
Courteously greets diners. Verifies diner eligibility and category by asking for and checking documents such as ID card, meal card, patient arm band, military rank, etc. Operates electronic cash register with accuracy and speed in totaling items purchased, collecting cash and giving correct change. Consolidates cash after each meal and prepares cash turn-in documents. Must have a good knowledge of basic arithmetic and ability to add, subtract and make change, and skill in operating an electronic cash register. Replenish the dining area with supplies and utensils. Cleans the service area. Changes table cloths. Wipes off tables and chairs. Sanitizes beverage dispensers. Sets up condiments, flatware, and glassware in service stands. Replenish snacks and other take-out food items.

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Experience required:
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least 6 months of general experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. General experience is defined as: Progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled; such as greeting diners, verifying diner eligibility. Operating an electronic cash register, collecting cash and giving correct change. Preparing signs and menu boards for display. Replenishing dining area with supplies and utensils. Cleaning service area. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-02).
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, abilities) in the following areas:
Ability to operate a Cash Register
Ability to prepare signs and menu boards
Ability to clean and replenish supplies
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you may qualify if your education meets the definitions below:
Successfully completed education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite is creditable at grades GS-3 through GS-5 for all positions except Reporting Stenographer, GS-5. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school.

Combination: Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total experience. Compute the percentage and divide your total months of qualifying experience by 6. Then divide your semester hours of undergraduate by 18. Add the two percentages.
