This position is located in the Audio Visual Branch, Museum Support Services Division (MSSD), Office of Facilities Management and Reliability (OFMR), Smithsonian Facilities (SF), Smithsonian Institution. The purpose of this position is to provide audio visual equipment, operators, repair services, design and installation services, consultant services, and related services to all requesting Smithsonian organization. The incumbent serves under the general supervision of the Branch Chief and provides a variety of administrative, planning, scheduling and analytical services in support of the Branch's programs.
Duties
Schedules and coordinates audio visual support for a wide variety of events.
Determines availability of equipment and arranges for delivery to event site.
Maintains and improves automated program showing reimbursable and non-reimbursable hours.
Recommends and carries out projects and programs to improve Branch operation including analyzing alternatives, preparing reports, and recommending courses of action.
Provides administrative support to the Branch including drafting and preparing correspondence, forms, and reports.

Experience
GS-09:
You qualify for this position if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-7 level in the Federal Service or comparable pay band system. For this position specialized experience is defined as providing administrative/audio visual support activities for the office; researching and/or analyzing data related to administrative/audio visual written reports for management; managing multiple tasks independently including special events and/or projects; maintaining automated database system by scheduling and/or tracking special events for management; and resolving matters realted to administrative/audio visual.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Part-time and/or unpaid experience related to this position will be considered to determine the total number of years and months of experience. Be sure to note the number of paid or unpaid hours worked each week.
OR, the following educational requirement may be substituted for the Specialized Experience requirement:
Education
GS-09:
Two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master’s or equivalent graduate degree
or
2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
or
LL.B. or J.D., if related
Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.
One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study. If that information cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours should be considered as satisfying the 1 year of full-time study requirement.
Part-time graduate education is creditable in accordance with its relationship to a year of full-time study at the school attended.
Foreign Education: Education completed in colleges or universities outside the United States may be used to meet the education requirements. You must provide acceptable documentation that the foreign education is comparable to that received in an accredited educational institution in the United States. A combination of specialized experience and graduate level education which equals 100% of the requirement when computed as percentages and combined. To combine education and experience, first take the number of semester hours or equivalent earned towards a graduate degree, in excess of 18 semester hours, and divide by 18 semester hours or equivalent. Then take the number of months experience and divide by 12 months. Add the percentages together. The total must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.
Qualification requirements must be met within 30 days of the job announcement closing date.
