About the Position:
This position is with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District, Security & Law Enforcement Office, in Mobile, Alabama. Mobile District has over 1,200 civilian and 10 military personnel. These employees work in fields that are diverse, including project management, water resources planning and management, engineering and architectural design, construction, and operations and maintenance. Mobile District's military mission covers over 252,000 square miles, and supports the Army, Air Force, NASA and other federal agencies in Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, and Central and South America. The civil works mission covers 96,000 square miles in Alabama, Florida, Georgia and Mississippi. It includes all river, harbor and flood control works within the drainage basin of six major river systems.

Duties
Serves as a Security Assistant in the Security and Law Enforcement Office, and performs duties relative to safeguarding sensitive information/material and property from unauthorized disclosure or release. Verifies the identity of card recipients; receives, verifies, and enters card recipient information into DEERS/RAPIDS. Issues Common Access Cards (CACs) to Department of Defense (DoD) civilian employees and authorized dependents. Schedules appointments and coordinates with the civilian human resources office for in-processing and initial investigations for all new hires. Assists employees and contractors with completion of security training. Conducts pre-appointment security checks for sensitive positions prior to appointment. Provides training and SECRET level access to eligible clearance holders with a need-to-know. Maintains Personnel Security (PERSEC) database to track security related actions. Ensures the personnel occupying national security positions have the proper personnel investigations and periodic reviews. Ensures out-processing personnel are debriefed or have clearances terminated as appropriate. Coordinates visitor, vendor and contractor access to the District HQ with the Unit Logistics Agency, Federal Protective Service, and General Services Administration. Issues visitor cards to other persons who have been authorized. Performs other duties as assigned.
