Summary


Civilian employees serve a vital role in supporting the Army mission. They provide the skills that are not readily available in the military, but crucial to support military operations. The Army integrates the talents and skills of its military and civilian members to form a Total Army.

The President has ordered a government-wide hiring freeze subject to certain limited exceptions. This position is subject to the hiring freeze. About the Position:
This is a developmental position. This position has promotion potential to GS-07.

This position is located on Fort Shafter, Hawaii on the island of Oahu. Oahu is the third largest island in the Hawaiian chain. It is home to about three-fourths of the state's population. Honolulu is the state Capitol and the 11th largest U.S. Metropolitan city. Waikiki, the most world-renowned site on Oahu, is the top visitor destination of the state. The island is very geographically diverse with mountains, rainforest, volcanic craters, tropics, beaches, and much more.

Duties


As a Human Resources Assistant in the Civilian Personnel Advisory Center, you will perform a variety of Classification, Recruitment and Placement, clerical and technical personnel work. You will be reviewing Request for Personnel Actions (RPA's) for accuracy and completeness and to obtain additional information, if necessary. In Position Management and Classification, you will be assigned to review simple, common clerical and wage grade positions. You will review classification standards for occupational information, gather information from subject matter experts and management officials; review organization charts for discrepancies and adequacy of classification evaluation, and write classification evaluations to be reviewed by Human Resources Specialists. Enter position descriptions and evaluation statements into an automated system such as FASCLASS. In Recruitment and Placement, you will prepare vacancy announcements and occupational questionnaires for lower graded general schedule positions. Using an automated recruitment system, enters recruitment information, code Request for Personnel Actions (RPA's), rates applications, determines appointment eligibility, and develops referral lists for HR Specialist's review. Assist with counseling and registering eligible individuals in the Priority Placement Program (PPP) and maintaining PPP files. Download daily reports and distribute to HR Specialist. Work with newly hired employees during the pre-processing stage and conduct in-processing for new employees. Research and answer customer questions on Human Resources issues and/or direct them to the appropriate HR Specialist.
