Criteria to Assess Dementia Interventions' Readiness for Pragmatic Trials
Rosa BaierQ&I and Hebrew SeniorLife researchers have identified criteria to determine which non-drug dementia interventions are ready for testing in pragmatic trials.
While many dementia interventions have shown promise for improving outcomes for people living with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, uptake of these interventions remains low. Pragmatic trials, which test interventions under real-world conditions, have the potential to accelerate the translation of evidence into practice. The identified criteria relate both to conducting the research and to maximizing the likelihood that effective interventions are widely adopted, and are available in an editorial published by the Journal of the American Medical Directors Association.
The criteria reflect expert input from participants at a meeting the authors convened to discuss how best to identify and support non-drug dementia interventions ready for pragmatic trials.
