Reporting to the Interpretation Officer/Coordinator III, the GT 01 Heritage Presenter delivers interpretive presentations, programs, activities and special events that engage Canadians and other visitors in the learning, enjoyment, connection to, and appreciation of the natural and cultural heritage of Fort Beauséjour – Fort Cumberland National Historic Site.Candidates should also demonstrate flexibility in response to the organizations changing needs and will be able to learn quickly and pick up new methods and techniques both within and outside their current area of expertise.
This position is responsible for:
Presenting meaningful, captivating and enjoyable interpretation programs and activities that enhance the overall visitor experience of the national historic site.
Greet and orient visitors; deliver reception, orientation, public safety and visitor experience information.
Adapt information when delivering presentations to address the needs of specific visitor groups and individuals, to reflect a target market and personal approach.
Participate in the coordination and delivery of after-hours special events.
Contribute to the overall national historic site visitor experience through the course of work; respond to general inquiries, direct visitors to sources of information and service areas, and direct visitor complaints; remain attentive to national historic site conditions and environments to detect and report incidents and undesirable situations; advise visitors and assist with possible solutions.

Fort Beauséjour – Fort Cumberland National Historic SiteWhere winds blow hard across the ridge in Aulac, you’ll find the ruins of an 18th century fort and its historic battleground. France built Fort Beauséjour in reaction to Britain’s establishment of Fort Lawrence, and to protect its interests in the region. Later captured by the British, Fort Beauséjour was renamed Fort Cumberland in 1755 and the deportation of the Acadians (descendants of the 17th-century French colonists) began.
During the American Revolutionary War, Fort Cumberland and its garrison repelled rebel attacks led by American sympathizer Jonathan Eddy. If Fort Cumberland had fallen, Nova Scotia might have become the 14th American colony.

A post-secondary degree in history, archaeology, social science, communications or in another relevant field to the position or acceptable combination of education, training, experience or traditional knowledge relevant to the position.
