Job Description

Major Responsibilities: Assists in the development and implementation of overdose training for people who use drugs, their family and friends and staff of community agencies Assists in the determination of groups and individuals requiring overdose prevention and response training and the development of training and support to meet their needs Assists in the design of mechanisms to determine client needs Assists in the development of user friendly training materials for clients regarding overdose, naloxone and overdose response/The Works program Assists in the development of mechanisms for overdose training, including groups and activities for clients Provides information to staff regarding overdose needs and issues from the clients’ perspective Key Qualifications: Experience working/dealing with situations of drug use, harm reduction, overdose prevention and related issues.  You must also have: Current knowledge of drug use, harm reduction and related issues Knowledge of services and resources and must be able to relate to and work with drug users. Ability to work in a non-judgemental way to the clients of The Works. Advanced knowledge of issues relating to drug use. Ability to work as a team member. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, staff, community agencies and the public. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Excellent organizational skills and ability to take initiative and work independently. Ability to deal with confidential material and matters. Ability to represent the needs and perspectives of people who use drugs.
