Duties

Provides lifeguard services and related reception, information, cashier and janitorial services to guests in pools, to contribute to visitor use and enjoyment in a safe, secure environment.

Intent of the process

The results of this process will be used to fill term vacancies and may be used in the future to fill permanent or temporary vacancies that may arise at the Lifeguard, GS-MPS-05 group and level in the Canadian Rockies Hot Springs, including Banff or Radium, with full or part-time hours for various tenures, such as: Indeterminate, Seasonal Indeterminate, Term, Acting Assignment, Assignment at level, depending on status of the selected candidate.

Successful completion of secondary school according to provincial standards; or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience.
Degree equivalency
OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION:
• A Valid Canadian National Lifeguard Service (NLS) Certification or International Life Saving Federation Pool Lifeguard equivalent certification (http://ift.tt/2COrzVg)
• CPR "Basic Rescuer" or "C" level
• Aquatic Emergency Care or Standard First Aid or International Red Cross First Aid or International St John's Ambulance First Aid
• Preference may be given to candidates who hold advanced first aid awards i.e. Aquatic Emergency Care, Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation Level "Health Care Provider", Emergency Medical Responder or Emergency Medical Technician, Pool Operator Certification.

EXPERIENCE:
• Providing information and service to the public;
• Point of sale equipment operation, cash handling, and balancing daily sales;
• Cleaning washrooms and facilities in a commercial setting.
