Duties

Seeking a dynamic student who can assist with the planning, promotions and implementation of a number of initiatives to actively engage partners, stakeholder and the public to help meet our mandate while strengthening our relationship with them.

Specific Projects will include:
• Help plan, promote and deliver the Deep Bay Artists’ Residency program
• Develop and deliver initiatives to engage Indigenous communities around the park
• Assist with the stakeholder and partnership registry
• Other duties as required (e.g., assistance with Canada 150 Celebration Events)

Work environment

Parks Canada is a federal government agency responsible for the protection and presentation of Canada's outstanding natural and cultural resources through a system of national parks, national marine conservation areas and national historic sites in all regions of Canada.

Intent of the process

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Minimum successful completion of two years post secondary education
Degree equivalency
Experience in working with the public
Experience assisting with special event delivery
Experience developing and delivering communication and/or marketing plans and strategies
Experience in the utilization of new media (e.g., twitter, facebook)
Experience in planning and delivering projects
Experience in working with computers

• Knowledge of public relations and marketing planning and tactics (e.g., social media)
• Knowledge of Parks Canada's vision and mandate
• Knowledge of natural and cultural heritage specific to Riding Mountain National Park
• Ability to carry out instructions accurately and efficiently
• Strong communication skills – interpersonal, oral and writing
• Ability to plan and deliver projects
• Can work with Microsoft Office Suite
• Work well with the public and people from various cultures and backgrounds
• Can work independently but also in a team setting
• Special event planning is considered an asset
• Ability to work cooperatively as a part of a team
• Ability to adapt in order to work effectively in ambiguous or changing situations, and with diverse individuals and groups

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance - Reliability Status security clearance is required.
Be in possession of a valid class 5 driver’s license – minimum Class 5I (Intermediate level) Licence.
