Duties

Visitor services and revenue collection at various locations including visitor centres, day use areas, outdoor kiosks and retail locations. This includes providing comprehensive information to the visiting public on a wide variety of topics including but not limited to: campgrounds, trails, points of interest, safety, backcountry travel, park regulations and policies, selling a variety of passes, and properly accounting for revenue received. Occasional facility cleaning and maintenance.

Intent of the process

The results may be used in the future to fill permanent or temporary vacancies that may arise at the GS-MPS-04 group and level in the Banff Field Unit, in various locations, with full or part-time hours for various tenures, such as: Indeterminate, Term, Acting Assignment or Assignment at level, depending on status of the selected candidate.

EDUCATION:
Secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience.
Degree equivalency
EXPERIENCE IN:
• Experience in anticipating and meeting public needs, and resolving complaints while demonstrating tact and professionalism
• Experience in handling cash and operating point of sales
• Experience in travelling to backcountry areas in Banff National Park on overnight/multi-night trips

• Banff National Park visitor services including but not limited to operations and facilities, cultural experiences, interpretive programs and special events
• Banff National Park backcountry system including campgrounds and shelter; trail network; backcountry safety; and leave no trace principals
• Banff National Park activities such as, but not limited to: hiking, skiing, snowshoeing, cycling, rock climbing, ice climbing, scrambling and avalanche safety

• Be exposed to noxious odours from car fumes; to dust, cleaning products and wet conditions
