The Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development is responsible for stewardship of Provincial Crown land and natural resources, and protection of B.C.’s archaeological and heritage resources. Overseeing a land base of 94.8 million hectares, the Ministry supports the sustainable management of forest, mineral and land resources, the prosperity, viability and competitiveness of industries that use them, and public access for a wide range of activities such as hunting, fishing and recreation. The Ministry is responsible for policy development, operational management and implementation, and oversees over 50 statutes and associated regulations.

As the Resource and Contract Administrator, you will provide technical and administrative support for resource authorizations and other regional operations programs.  This role is best suited for a highly organized, analytical thinker, with keen attention to detail. As an excellent communicator, you are able to successfully convey requirements regarding policies and procedures to staff and the public. You perform your duties with a high degree of initiative, flexibility and efficiency with the ability to prioritize and multi-task. You are proficient with the Microsoft Office suite of tools and are prepared to use multiple natural resource databases and required financial systems. A positive team member, your strong service orientation supports your ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with your co-workers while focussing on completing high quality work and providing superior customer service.

Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:
  • Secondary school graduation and 3 years’ clerical experience with preference for natural resource job environment.
  • Experience in keyboarding, word processing, creating spreadsheets and working with standard computer applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
  • Demonstrated experience and/or training with business writing, editing and formatting.
  • Experience identifying problems and developing options for resolution within policies and guidelines.
  • Experience coding, processing, storing, tracking and retrieving records and information.
  • Experience computing a variety of mathematical calculations and using applications to enter and retrieve data, performing accounting functions and producing financial reports.
