You must meet all essential qualifications in order to be appointed to the position. Other qualifications may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed. Some essential and other qualifications will be assessed through your application. It is your responsibility to provide appropriate examples that illustrate how you meet each qualification. * You must be fluent in either English OR French, including being able to speak, write, read and understand either official language. You do NOT need to be bilingual.

* Given current operational needs, and the national and international role of the RCMP, a limited number of French troops will be filled with this process. In order to help you decide if you have the language ability to take the Cadet training in English and/or in French, an optional self-assessment of your reading and writing skills is recommended. All Cadets are required to have a minimum BBB level in order to undertake Cadet training in their second official language.

* If your application is selected, you may be invited for a second language evaluation or asked to provide valid Government of Canada SLE results.
