If so, consider this opportunity with the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services, Fort Frances Jail as a General Clerk where you will provide clerical services for the nursing department and assist the records department with filing.

Please note: This is a regular, part-time position. You will work 24 hours per week.

The correct salary range for this position is $21.40 to $24.72 per hour per hour in compliance with current OPSEU collective agreement provisions.

What can I expect to do in this role?

In this position, you will:
• receive incoming calls and refer calls to appropriate staff;
• type and distribute various memoranda, reports, letters, incidental typing as required and recording of minutes at staff meetings;
• file all directives and correspondence as per filing system and offender files;
• prepare new offender files on admit/transfer;
• order supplies/stationary as required
• record retention duties and other related clerical duties
• assist inmate records supervisor and clerks in clerical duties as assigned

How do I qualify?

Technical Knowledge:

• you have demonstrated knowledge of office practices and procedures particularly pertaining to record keeping, filing and information systems;
• you have the ability to acquire understanding of relevant policies, procedures, regulations and statutes relating to offender records

Analytical, Problem Solving and Organizational Skills:

• you have analytical and problem solving skills to verify accuracy of information and correct discrepancies;
• you have demonstrated organizational skills to assist in the maintenance of inmate filing and information systems

Communication Skills:

• you can interact with inmates, staff, justice officials and the public in a tactful and diplomatic manner;
• you can prepare various memoranda and incidental reports;
• you can take minutes at staff meetings

Computer Skills:

• you have demonstrated computer proficiency with working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and database software applications (i.e. Microsoft Office, Excel, Email, Intranet)
