    This is a Student Intern position in the Pathways Program. Selected individuals are placed in an excepted service position that integrates their academic studies with relevant federal work experience. At the successful completion of the Student Intern's academic studies and program requirements, the agency may non-competitively convert the student to a term or permanent position in the competitive service. Conversion to a Federal competitive service position will be at the discretion of the agency and is neither guaranteed nor implied. Student Trainees provide professional assistance and direct support to headquarters and field management staff on a variety of matters in support of USCIS programs and mission requirements.

    Responsibilities

    As a STUDENT TRAINEE, you will:
    • Gain valuable professional, administrative, and/or technical on-the-job training and experience with the opportunity to explore future career possibilities with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). You will perform support work in connection with the assignments and projects of the office to which you are assigned.
    • Provide technical assistance and support completing a variety of general administrative or clerical assignments and supporting District or field office with any special projects assigned to the office at the time.
    • Ideal candidates for these internships are individuals pursuing undergraduate or graduate degree programs in business administration or management, economics, public policy, political science, international relations or studies, accounting or financial management, information technology / information systems, human resources management, and pre-law and law. Candidates will be considered on the basis of the applicability of their education and experience to specific USCIS assignments.
