Responsibilities
These positions are located within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Chief Business Office (CBO) Purchased Care (PC), Operations (OPS) at Helena, Montana. These positions are responsible for the daily management of non-VA medical care mail distribution, scanning of claim forms and medical records, medical records indexing, medical claims verification, authorization data entry, record filing, and limited claims processing for the organization. Your duties can include but are not limited to the following:
Reviews and processes incoming and outgoing mail and correspondence;
Ensures claims are properly opened, date stamped and sorted into categories for scanning;
Receives telephone calls regarding Veterans eligibility and/or entitlement to benefits for non-VA medical care;
Scans medical documentation and indexes the medical records to the patients electronic file;
Assists vendors with requests regarding payment issues, correct address and VA correspondence;
Assists Veterans in filing claims.
Work Schedule: Full Time, Monday to Friday - 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Recruitment & Relocation Incentives: Not authorized Financial Disclosure Report: Not Required

Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959
May be required to serve a probationary period.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work is generally sedentary in nature, sometimes requiring light lifting and transportation of records. Work is performed in a variety of office settings exposing the employee to the normal office hazards.
Participation in seasonal influenza program may be required.
Qualifications
Specialized Experience: Applicants must have one (1) year of specialized experience equipped with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to successfully perform the duties of the Program Support Clerk position. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-4 level in Federal service. Specialized experience includes: scanning medical documentation and indexes the medical records to the patients electronic file; ensuring claims are properly opened, date stamped and sorted into categories for scanning; reviewing and processing incoming and outgoing mail and correspondence and directing to the appropriate staff member; possessing knowledge medical terminology, CPT codes and diagnostic codes.
OR
Substitution of Education for Experience: Must possess four (4) years of successfully completed education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. (Transcripts Required)
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: Must possess equivalent combinations of successfully completed post high school education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirement at the GS-05 level. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. For example: (6) months of specialized experience and (2) years of successfully completed education above the high school level would meet this requirement. (Transcripts Required)

IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
