Requirements:
All qualifications requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement and clearly documented in your resume.
Must be able to obtain an interim and/or final (e.g., confidential/secret/top secret, etc.) security clearance prior to entrance on duty AND must be able to maintain the required level of clearance while employed in the subject position. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
Employees are required to observe established safe working procedures. Appropriate protective clothing and/or equipment is provided to minimize eliminate hazardous conditions, and its use is mandatory.
Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
Selectee must obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license.
This position may require ability to obtain licenses for the operation of Folk Lift, High lift (JLG) and/or Construction equipment, upon notification.
Should work be assigned that requires special certification or licensing to perform the work or to use specialized tools or equipment, the incumbent will be required to obtain such certification or licensing and maintain any associated qualification requirements.
Must be able to obtain and maintain respirator and scaffolding competent person certification.
Call back and emergency overtime are regular requirements for this position.
Selectee will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
PHYSICAL EFFORT
The work requires considerable standing, climbing, stooping, bending, stretching and working in cramped, awkward positions. Frequently lifts, carries, push and pull buckets of paint weighing up to 50 pounds. Occasionally may lift items weighing over 50 pounds with assistance. Frequently climbs ladders, stands and balances body on scaffolding and stretches while painting. Works overhead in awkward positions.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Works both indoors and outdoors. Often works in cramped quarters and does spray painting in confined interior areas. Frequently is subject to poor lighting and ventilating conditions, dust, dirt, fumes, and noise and to discomfort from paint dropping on hands, face and clothing. Works from scaffolding, ladders and on roofs.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to do the work of a Painting Worker without more than normal supervision which includes:: 1) Assisting in the interpretation of instructions or specifications to assist journeymen in performing their trade; 2) Carrying out routine tasks of the trade; 3) Stirring, thinning, and mixing coating materials following specific instructions; 4) Selecting tools and deciding on standard methods and techniques to use to complete assignments; 5) Checking surfaces after coating to see that there are no skips and touches up as needed; and 6) Cleaning and maintaining tools and equipment such as paint brushes, rollers, and spray guns.
