About the Position:
This vacancy is with the US Army Engineer District, Albuquerque Operations Division, Lake Operations Branch and is physically located in Abiquiu, New Mexico.
Operate and maintain one or more flood control dams.
Perform a variety of maintenance, repair and operational duties.
Construct, install, repair or modify items and structures. Repair, replace and maintain such things as pipe, tile, union joints, faucets and drains.
Paint a variety of surfaces such as, wood, metal and concrete.
Monitor water filtration equipment and gauges according to prescribed schedules.
Collect water samples and conduct routine tests.
Conduct routine electrical and mechanical repairs, welding and installation duties.
Collect humidity, temperature and wind velocity readings from weather instruments, make gage readings pertaining to water storage and perform related calculations.
Report weather information and operating data.
Make gate settings to regulate outflow of water.
Inspect dam and appurtenant structures and equipment.
Perform routine maintenance and repair.
Check dam equipment gages and indicators for accuracy.
Replace charts on automatic stream flow and weather gages.
Maintain daily log on operating data.
Operate a variety of vehicles and vessels, such as, sedans, light duty pickup trucks and 5-ton trucks, tractors, fork lifts, motor boats, work barges, etc.
Travel Required
Occasional travel - Travel (TDY) up to 10% of the time.
Pre-employment physical and drug test are reqiured.
May be required to obtain a valid CPR certification.
May be required to work night, weekends, and/or holidays.
May be required to obtain a water treatment plant operator's license.
May be required to work in confined spaces.
Required to wear a presribed uniform.
May be required to work in adverse weather conditions.

Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
Appointment is subject to the completion of a favorable suitability or fitness determination.
Direct Deposit of Pay is Required.
This is a Career Program (CP) 17 position.
Personnel Security Investigation is required.
May be required to be properly trained and/or operate the following equipment: atmospheric monitoring devices and fall protection equipment.
Qualifications
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Maintenance Worker~ without more than normal supervision.
WG-07: I have experience performing common maintenance and repair tasks on mechanical equipment, utility systems, buildings, and/or other appurtenant structures and property under the normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level maintenance worker who observes tasks in progress and upon completion makes sure they are properly performed
WG-08: I have experience as a maintenance worker performing common dam operation, maintenance inspection and repair work on a continuing basis on mechanical equipment, utility systems, buildings, and/or other appurtenant structures and property at park and flood control dam facilities under the normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level maintenance worker who observes tasks in progress to ensure they are property performed.

Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprinting reading)
Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment
Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc.
Physical Effort: Uses moderate physical effort to stack, load, unload, move and carry tools, equipment and materials ranging in weight from 10 pounds to 50 pounds unassisted. Occasionally lifts heavier objects with assistance (e.g., using a hand truck). Required to reach, walk, stand, stoop, bend, kneel, crawl and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Occasionally works in cramped quarters, or from ladders, scaffolds or platforms.
Working Conditions: Work is performed inside and outside in all types of weather (e.g., heat, cold, rain, wind, etc.) and usually in a dirty, dusty and/or greasy environment. Incumbent is exposed to the possibility of broken bones, electrical shocks, burns, cuts bruises, maimed fingers and scrapes. Occasionally is required to wear uncomfortable protective clothing.
