• Summary

  
  This position is located under the Center for Media Services, Directors Office, Office of Facilities, Services, and Property. This Office provides business management services in support of the activities and mission of the Media Center Complex. Services include mail management services, property management, shipping, receiving and control, warehousing, storage, general office supplies, motor pool management, risk and safety management, space management, facilities management, and physical security.
  This is a full-time TERM appointment, NTE 13 months with the potential to be extended up to 4 years.

  Responsibilities

  The position is responsible for assisting the Deputy Associate Manager, and the Facility Operations Specialist, Office of Facilities, Services, and Property with facility operations and maintenance; personal property management inventory & disposal; shipping & receiving of supplies, materials, and equipment; warehouse storage; risk and safety management; space management, office, furniture, and equipment moves. In addition this position is considered an essential position and responds during emergencies and during inclement weather to ensure parking lots, sidewalks, and stairs is safe for employees.

  Qualification at the GS05:  Applicant must have one year of specialized experience. Specialized experience is experience that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to successfully perform the duties of this position. This experience must be equivalent to at least the GS-04 level in the Federal service. Examples of specialized experience include, but are not limited to, the following: providing administrative support in tracking facilities operations and maintenance information including building maintenance, repair, and restoration; supporting maintenance activities and preventive maintenance programs for a park, recreational area, or similar operation.
  SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:Four years of successfully completed education above the high school level in any field of study for which high school graduation or the equivalent was a prerequisite. (This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial, or technical school, junior college, college, or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school). IMPORTANT – PLEASE NOTE: If you are using education to qualify you must document your course work and/or degree completed in your resume or other application materials you submit. You must submit a copy of your transcripts or a complete list of college courses taken that identifies for each course the college or university, semester or quarter hours earned, grade received, and date completed. If you are qualifying based on education and you do not submit specific course work information as described previously, your application will be rated not qualified for consideration. (A copy of your official transcripts will be required before entrance on duty, if selected).
  AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF QUALIFYING EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:For example, I have 6 months of general experience (50% of the experience requirement) combined with three years of education as outlined above (50% of the education requirement).

This experience must be equivalent to at least the GS-05 level in the Federal service. Examples of specialized experience include, but are not limited to, the following: providing technical support in tracking and managing facilities operations and maintenance including building maintenance, repair, and restoration; planning maintenance activities and developing preventive maintenance programs for a park, recreational area, or similar operation; providing assistance with personal property management, inventory control and accountability, excess and surplus property disposal, and moving and storage services.

  Assessment Questionnaire is designed to measure your ability in the following competencies needed to successfully perform on the job:
  Ability to use a personal computer and apply procedures of automated programs; this includes knowledge of word processing, database and spreadsheets.
  Ability to communicate orally and in writing, applying proper grammar, spelling, punctuation and format.
  Knowledge of property management methods and practices.
  Knowledge of the shipping and receiving of materials in a supply operation, this includes knowledge of warehousing supplies, materials, and equipment.

  EDUCATION:
  Applicants are responsible for providing documentation that the applicable educational provisions have been met. To qualify based on education you must submit a legible copy of transcripts or list of college courses with your name, school name, credit or semester hours, major(s), and a grade-point average or class ranking. Official transcripts are required upon selection if you qualified based on education.
  Education must have been obtained from an accredited or pre-accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in order for it to be credited towards qualifications. Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the above requirements if you can show that the foreign education is comparable to that received in an accredited educational institution in the United States.
