About the Position:
This position is located at the Maneuver Center of Excellence (MCOE), Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation (WHINSEC) Ft. Benning, Georgia 31905. The "Maneuver Center of Excellence" is located 100 miles south of Atlanta and is adjacent to Columbus, Georgia and Phenix City, Alabama. The geography and climate are ideal for year round military training. Public transportation and free parking are available.
As a Transportation Assistant (Bilingual/ Motor Vehicle Operator) you will:
o Coordinate travel requirements with entities such as the transportation office and directly with commercial airlines, moving companies, or other transportation companies.
o Confirm travel reservations with the contracted travel office in order validate travel arrangements.
o Manage a fleet of official vehicles to support the organization's missions.
o Serve as a primary point of contact to resolve personnel's requests for assistance with transportation issues such as disputes between carrier and customer and emergency travel situations.
o Schedule daily transportation requirements in support of the administrative, academic, and social activities of the organization.
o Utilize knowledge of transportation regulations and laws to monitor and report on carrier compliance with contract terms, safety provisions, or other transportation programs.

This is a Career Program (CP) 24 position.
This position requires the incumbent to be able to obtain and maintain a valid State-issued driver's license.
This position required the incumbent to be able to obtain and maintain a valid State-issued Commercial Driver's license with P endorsement.
This position requires the incumbent to submit a Financial Disclosure Statement, OGE-450, (5CFR Part 2634, Subpart I USOGE, 6/08). Executive Branch Personnel Confidential Financial Disclosure Report upon entering the position and annually, in accordance with DoD Directive 5500-7-R, Joint Ethics Regulation, dated 23 March 2006.
This position requires the incumbent to be available for TDY assignment up to 10% of the time for training.
This position is considered a Testing Designated Position (TDP) and requires negative results for not only pre-appointment drug testing but also random drug testing.
Personnel Security Investigation is required.
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes Coordinating travel arrangements for personnel such as individual students, foreign instructors/lecturers, and dependents, to include the shipment of household goods to domestic and international destinations; Advising personnel such as staff, students, and foreign instructors on transportation regulations governing entitlements, restrictions, allowances related to travel; Ensuring information pertaining to travel arrangements such as airline tickets, rental cars, bus group lodging availability dates, travel periods, and connections are compatible with the approved travel authorization. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
